  • Fantastic Second Volume

2 volumes in, the story continues to be as strong as ever; our story of a VRMMO remains as engaging as ever due to, despite knowing full well the setting is a game, the NPCs, the world and the life or death struggles manage to feel all too real. Both to our protagonist, and our MC. As he learns all too clearly in this volume, though not necessarily in the most positive way. The worst we've had up till this point from NPCs and Masters have been player killers- who are jerks, but more of a nuisance at best- and monsters, who are more instinct then evil by nature anyways. Here though- and without spoiling anything- Ray meets a gang of murderers and kidnappers, with the leaders in particular being truly spine-tingling despicable in the crimes they commit in the name of their goals. While the outcome of such a clash may be obvious, it's an engaging and heart-racing one nonetheless. In short, if you've read the first volume, expect more of the same excellence there carried over here; vol 2 adds much more depth to the series, and I for one can't wait to see where it takes us next :)
