  • It kept me enthralled

Yes, enthralling but, at the same time, one of the saddest books I have read - destruction of the physical and destruction of a child's potential and future.

  • Mental Health and Physical Trauma issues

Many mental health and physical traumas were dealt with very sensitively. I felt as though I was right there with the main character and actually cried at the ending although I did envisage something like that taking place.

  • Potential

An extremely evocative account of the awful damage of child sexual abuse told through the experience of the victim whose only outlet for the pain is his art. The Australian landscape is an essential element in the story and provides solace for the boy/man, Laurence.

  • Mental health and abuse - may be triggering

Sofie Laguna doesn't disappoint with this absorbing, disturbing and haunting story. She has the ability to get right inside her characters, to convey feelings that for many would defy description. Infinite Splendours is a story of love, betrayal, beauty, art and devastation. It is a book that stays with the reader long after it is finished.

  • Thought provoking

This story explores the long lasting impact of physical abuse on a young boy Laurence. His escape is in his art and the beauty Laurence finds in the landscape around him. These moments in the book are so beautifully written. This is a sad story but is sensitively written.
