Two romances - no, make that two and one tale of unrequited love. Vince and Charlie's story, set against the background of the US at war in 1943-4, and going on to the present, is both sweet and emotional. Joan and Mike's story, although more contemporary, has echoes of her grandparents' relationship. As for the story arc that links the series, I wish Mary Lou had seen Ihbrahim for who he was long before the climax. And what a climax. This story has many facets - politics, a president coming up for re-election, living life in the glare of publicity, living with family with mental illness... Ms Brockmann's storytelling just gets better and better!

    Thanks for your feedback!
