So prostitutes are unredeemable and rape is funny.

The entire book seems to be leading to the idea that prostitutes have value, and having sex for money doesn't make you less of a person. Great moral, would have been happy with that. Spoilers ahead: Unfortunately it's completely undermined when the villain says basically as much and is painted as an amoral temptress and rapist. Shortly after it is revealed that the newest member of the harem is actually still a virgin, despite her entire character arc being based on the idea of her overcoming her self loathing and shame for having been raped and sold into slavery. Less of a theme, bit still upsetting, is the fact that the whole plot is set into motion by a chase scene involving an actual horde of amazons hunting him down so that they can rape him. Meanwhile it's all played off as comedy and not actually an issue. In fact Bell almost gets raped at least 3 times, as they attempt brute force, drugs, and mind control. It was bad enough when it was Apollo being a disgusting monster, but the fact that everyone wants to rape Bell is just getting creepier
