  • A bit of a fairy tale for the sectors...

I actually went in less amped for this couple than most in the series... but as usual, Kit Rocha’s amazing talent for world-painting pulled me in. I am loving the normalcy of the polyamory, and the way that the families work to support and build lives in sector one... especially rebuilding after the war. Maricela is the protected princess of sector one, but so much more rests on her shoulders than she ever lets on. Her brother and sister, so accustomed to playing the role of protective parents, have failed to notice that she has grown into a fierce, brave, graceful woman. Ivan is a tortured soul, growing up in the dark shadow of his uncles’ terrible acts against the royal family. Gideon gave him the chance to redeem his family’s name in protection of the sector, and he had every intention to go down in a blaze of glory. Until he assigned to protect Maricela, and parts of him he thought long dead begin to awaken. This book is different than most of the Sector books, in that is full of slow-burning yearning. Each character so devoted to their role, but their love and protectiveness of each other is inescapable. I found myself more enthralled than expected with this one, reading late into the night because I couldn’t put it down!

  • A Sector One Princess and her Bodyguard

Maricela Rios, Gideon’s sister, Sector One Royalty Ivan Wolff, bodyguard, family history of depression Book 3 of the Gideon’s Riders series brings us back to Sector One. There are still genetically engineered enemies with evil intent. There are strong warriors whose duty is to protect the sector at all costs. There are equally strong women who are trying to make life better for Sector residents and the refugees that resulted from the war with Eden. There are celebrations hosted by the families looking to make political alliances thru marriages. (I heard this party referred to as a "Post-apocalyptic Regency house party".) Ivan has been assigned as Maricela’s bodyguard. He takes his job seriously. Maricela has lived a sheltered life as Gideon’s sister. But Maricela is not innocent as she appears. She is willing to do whatever it takes to protect those she loves. Sector One takes death seriously. When a Rider kills someone, they have a raven tattooed on their body. Maricela has a raven tattoo. Maricela has never been to Eden, so Ivan takes her sightseeing. There is also a date in a Sector dive bar. The fights are epic. Unexplained deaths add to the intrigue. Ivan learns to deal with his Mother’s mental issues. In the end, Gideon and his sister Isabella are planning a huge wedding celebration. Heat level is off the charts (in a good way). I think I know who is Gideon's mate. He is tongue tied around her throughout this story. 5 Stars The book was provided by the authors for an honest review.

  • Kit can do no wrong

So I’ve been alone for the ride, from the early sector 4 days, and I will admit, I was reluctant to leave the gang at The Broken Circle and all their debauchery, for the more etherical feel of sector 1. I should have known, that Kit would not leave us hanging. So this is the third book in the Gideon’s Riders serie, and as the two before it takes place in sector one. This one centers around Maricela, (younger sister of Gideon and princess of sector one) and Ivan (one of Gideons Riders and her bodyguard) and I personally love the illicit and forbidding aspect of the story. All in all where the Beyond series i a vulcanic explosion of debauchery, the Riders series is a slow, sultry str!ptease. An I love them equally ❤️ Ivan can be read as a stand-alone, but with the ever expanding gallery of characters, it could be somewhat difficult placing every one. Not to worry though, every single book (Riders and Beyond series) is a 5 ⭐️ read.

  • An interesting couple

This is one of those times that I've started a book thinking meh, I'm not really fussed about these two characters but love the author so I'll give it a go. In all series I think we all have characters that we can't wait to read about and others that were not so fussed about. I was very much like that about Maricela, she wasn't a character I was desperate to get too. I was very surprised by just how much I loved her. She was full of depth and much more than she seemed to be in previous sightings of her. She's got the weight of Sector One on her shoulders and seemed to be drowning in everyone's else's need to make a political marriage. It's so easy to make a judgement about someone without really understanding the life they lead. She's a very caring person, warm and welcoming. She needed to find someone to see her for herself, not the title she holds. Ivan is the brooding alpha Rider warrior perfect for the job. He's got his own demons to confront but they seemed to be the perfect antidote to each other's worries. Loyal to the core, it's a real struggle for him to let go and embrace his feelings for Maricela. His sense of duty to Gideon and his fellow Riders has always been his top priority so it was fun to see him succumb They've got red hot chemistry, those scenes were scorchingly hot! We got little snippets of other characters which gave us a good insight into future books, the plot although quite simple in terms of timespan and events, had a lot going on in terms of bringing the story arc forward. We meet a few new characters which should bring some interesting times ahead. Each book expands this universe and while we got a few answers this time we're left with a few more. It's a really good story and I'm looking forward to the next one.

  • The Bodyguard and The Princess

The bodyguard and the princess! Yes! I really enjoyed watching Ivan and Maricela fall in love! It was such a slow, smoldering burn. Oh, how Ivan resisted. But Maricela is not to be denied. I loved that they each gave the other the sense of freedom that was needed. It was wonderful to see Ivan loosen up, fall in love, and take his woman to see parts of the world she hadn't experienced. He saw Maricela in a way that no one did and realized that she need to LIVE, and not just be an object to be possessed and handled. Maricela was so steadfast in her love and belief that Ivan was a good man. Ivan had already suffered so much and felt that he would never be good enough for the princess. Maricela was determined to show him how worthy he was. Their sneaking around added a definite zing to their affair. I loved their trysts and how bossy and rough Ivan would get, giving Maricela exactly what she wanted and needed. And she wasn't afraid to give as good as she got. Mmm. The intrigue that started in previous books was resolved in this book, and it was surprise I didn't see coming. The storylines are always so well written and developed. I love Kit Rocha just as much for their "story telling" as I do for their characters and steamy sex! As always, I'm really looking forward the reading about the next Rider to fall head over heels in love!
