A different fantasy world to get to grips with

Every so often I try out a new author to prevent my reading from becoming too focused on a very narrow range. I still prefer the author to be British, although there are exceptions, and I tend towards the quirky and humorous end of Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Jodi Taylor presses all the buttons. She now ranks alongside Ben Aaronovitch, Jasper Fforde and Genevieve Cogman as one of my top authors. All four write stories which are completely impossible, but believable with an underlying, sometimes wicked sense of humour.

    Seriously Funny

Totally adorable. I think this is the first book in the series but it doesn't matter when you have a mad bunch of Historians Engineers running up and down the time line in dodgem cars. It's funny because the characters are so well painted that you relate to them. If you're a fan of History and went to one of England's good bad schools, this is for you. Be prepared for disasters, inexplicable recoverys, idiotic fun .......

    Harry Potter as time traveler

An ok enough read. Characters are likeable but remain somewhat flat. The main character was a bit too heroic and good to be believable or thoroughly enjoyable.

Alleen bij een gebrek aan beter

Een zeer matig verhaal met een vreemde spanningsboog. Het gaat een keer of drie door waar er prima en eind aangebreid kon worden. Het thema op zich is wel origineel.
