  • Awesome RomCom

This book was exactly what I needed! It ticked all the boxes and gave me such a high on a bleak week. There really wasn’t anything not to love about it. I’m not a fan of overstated angst, I’m all for the romcom and sweet romances. From the first chapter we get an overall feeling of what the book is about. I wouldn’t go as far to say it’s an enemies to lovers romance, but it got close. They have a disagreement over renovations, which starts off the delightful banter between them. Blaire is smart, beautiful and driven, and she has a 50’s fetish that was born indirectly from her quirky family. She is the proud owner of her own cupcake and booze cafe. What she doesn’t need on her opening week is a plaid hipster that is running the bar next door. Ronan definitely was a distraction, what with the good looks, arm candy and tattoos, but he was exceptionally loyal and even though he’d never admit it, he was a romantic at heart. There were so many funny moments with this book that had me either smiling like a goon or snorting along with their spiritedness. Her family were unique and worrisome all mixed together but really only had her best interest deep down. I also loved the way Ronan’s brothers gave him schtick too. I could appreciate Blaire’s sleep deprived mind going places when Ronan was busy else where, and grateful it didn’t go down a melodramatic path. It made for a more pleasing conclusion and kept to their characters. I adored the epilogue and felt we got their happily forever after they deserved because, who says you can’t find true love at the bottom of a martini glass? Now if I can only find a place that will serve one up with a cupcake to go with it.

  • Funny, sexy and surprising!

I have fallen in love with Blaire and Ronan so hard! This couple is so perfect for one another. I was sad to let them go at the end. I wish this book was part of a series so I'd still get a glimpse of how they're doing in the future. But then again, I feel like that after all of HH's books! You may remember Ronan from the All In Series. We got a sneak peak of him in it. At any rate, here is the story of a guy and a girl who have dreams. Big dreams! Both of them sort of go against the grain. Blaire doesn't want to take over the family business and Ronan does take over the family business but doesn't follow his brother into the financial world. It sets the premise for the perfect enemies to lover romance. As it is always the case with Helena Hunting books, she builds a universe where you love diving into and characters who are real and authentic. From Blaire's fashion flair and independence to Ronan's humour and care, you will fall in love with them like I did. It is funny and surprising and I wish I was able to read it again for the first time! So come join us for a cupcake at Buttercream and Booze or a beer at The Knight Cap. I know you want to! ;)

  • Fabulous RomCom

5 star Kiss My Cupcake by Helena Hunting A stand alone novel from the very talented Helena Hunting who wove a story that drew me in and held me captivated from the first to the last chapter. I love Ms. Hunting's style of writing and I found Blaire Calloway and Ronan Knight’s story to be quirky and fun. I loved how feisty, sassy and determined Blaire was to make her cupcake business a success. There was so much banter and humour within these pages as Blaire and her shop neighbour Ronan go head to head. The relationship that builds between them as their rivalry intensifies led to some laugh out loud moments. However when big business comes in and threatens both Blaire and Ronan’s blossoming businesses they band together to take them down. The chemistry between them sizzles and the secondary characters were just as entertaining. Ronan’s relationship with his family was heart warming and added an additional layer to the story. Kiss My Cupcake is a great example of a romantic comedy at it’s best and Helena Hunting continues to make me swoon and laugh, often at the same time.
