  • Loved it!

This is a wonderful coming of age novel, Henry is coming to terms with the changes his body is experiencing and his new found interest in girls. He and his agoraphobic mother Adele have been living a strange and isolated existance living on frozen fish dinners, Campbells soups and poptarts, having few visitors and no outings apart from Henry's obligatory Saturday night dinner with his father and his father's new family. When escaped criminal Frank takes refuge with 13 year old Henry and Adele, a strange chemistry occurs as the three bond. Frank's masculinity, his ability to take charge combined with a gentleness and patience changes everything in that household. This book was gentle touching and well observed. I fell in love with a 3 main characters, fragile whimsical Adele, nerdish sweet Henry and Frank...oh Frank, come and bake me a peach pie any day! I was so fearful of what the ultimate outcome would be, which had me racing through it , heart in mouth, hoping that my prediction would be proved wrong. Worth 5 and a half stars!

    Thanks for your feedback!
