  • I need to read more by this author

Wow, this book! This is the first book I've read by this author as I've just discovered her but she writes of one of my favorite subjects, the Civil War. I can guarantee you it won't be the last book read by her. I was mesmerized by this book. The haunting prose made me want to read it all the way through in one go. The house took on a life of it's own, hauntingly beautiful, brilliantly described I felt as though I were there in the house as secrets are uncovered and we have a better understanding of the family that lived there in the past. Their story comes to life in this time split book that I know I will not forget the character's story for a long time. I highly recommend this book! Pub Date 18 Jun 2019 I was given a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you. All opinions expressed are my own.

  • Lacewood

Lacewood: A Novel of Time and Place is my first introduction to Jessica James and her books. After reading this one, it will not be the last. I enjoyed Katie's story and how she solving the mystery of the past. I was not sure about her at first but she quickly grew on me and I could not put the book down. I loved Lacewood: A Novel of Time and Place and I am giving it a well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it. Fabulous read! I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

  • Mystery, Romance and more

We meet Katie who is taking on a huge restoration in Lacewood, New Hope. As soon as she walked into Lacewood Manor, she had an instant connection with the place and property. She wanted to do this herself, wanting it to be like it was back in the day. Will helps Katie but he is more closed off and has a long past. He feels drawn to Lacewood like Katie. With survivor’s guilt he tries to move on. He knows Katie is who he needs in his life. The story moves pretty well between the time periods. Finding the treasures and letters, Katie leads us to the previous owners. It was nice to read Katie and Josh’s story. Well done to the author the characters and plot made for a nice read. Throwing in mystery, romance and twists it’s as if the pages are turning themselves.

  • Title too short for the intriguing book.

I really enjoyed the story, it is true that small towns are really great to live in [without the gossips!] The pace was just right. Enough mystery to keep me intrigued and looking forward to the end of the puzzle. Descriptions of Lacewood was enough to take you inside and out in imagination.
