  • Ladies in black

A simply written, frothy , entertaining novel depicting the attitudes of Australians in the 1950s towards migrants , class differences, retail practices and relationships. A good easy read

  • Life in the fifties

Although it was 2 years before me, this book gave me a lovely insight to a time on the brink of change. The naivities and ignorance of both white Australians and immigrants. A great read.

  • "Ladies in Black" by Madeliene St John

The book is informative and knowing the era is a," good reminisce". The reading was easy, but through halve way , it started to ,"dull", in the story line an the characters where less interesting. The book would be good for persons, who, lived in the 60's
