    Thanks for your feedback!

Good suspenseful story with a love story to boot!

As my first entree into this genre (and take everything I say with the understanding that I have ZERO frame of reference), I enjoyed reading this novel. The author captured my interest quickly with the introduction of a mysterious book, a young woman in dire straits, and then, a young handsome man who finds himself in the enviable position of becoming her hero. As I was reading through the first chapters of this book, I found myself drawing parallels to how this story would be told in a Contemporary Romance framework, my "comfort zone", That transition helped me to become engrossed with the story and follow along with it in its own context. As I previously mentioned, I have no frame of reference to compare the story line in this book with others of similar genre, but the writing style was compelling and drew me in. The dialog was tight, and the "mental dialog" was pertinent without being overbearing. Once I adapted to the language patterns and word usage of the time, I found the story flowing smoothly and I was captivated with the suspenseful aspects of the story, as well as the romance. I knew not what to expect with regards to intimacy between the characters, but similar to the author's Contemporary Romance books, she did not disappoint. I enjoyed the character development of Margery and Rhys (or should I call them Miss Derrington and Mr. Bowen). I felt the struggles that each of them experienced as they were trying to determine whether it was worth the risk to explore their feelings. Each had experienced loss in their life and felt love wasn't worth the risk of further hurt. Ultimately, the realization that experiencing love was worth the risk won out over fear of loss. Action, adventure, romance and suspense.

Action, adventure, romance and suspense. The DeValery Code has them all. In some ways the story comes across as National Treasure meets Raiders of the Lost Ark. It draws you in and takes you along for the ride with Margery and Rhys as they look for a secret treasure based on a rumored mysterious code. I received a copy of The DeValery Code for an honest review. Strong characters and fun thrill ride equals a good story.

    Alright

I found myself wanting to skip to the end. Quite repetitive at times - I did skip a lot of the sex scenes.

A very interesting story....it has Romance, sex, mystery , thrill, suspense....the concept of treasure hunt is very refreshing .... the character of Margery is very strong for a lady of Regency times & Rhys as a open minded gentleman r excellent.... i loved d book ....very well written....the plot well developed .. The story is about Miss Margery Derrington who is beautiful, smart, bold, independent , intelligent and been allowed much freedom by her two elderly aunts. Rhys Bowen, an academic scholar specializing in medieval texts. Rhys charactrer is sweet, intelligent, handsome and very determined once he set his mind to something. The plot was fast paced not boring at all, The treasure hunt was abosulety thrilling & i was in hooks . The suspense ,intrigue revealed along the way made reading more exciting. I really enjoyed the story , the characters .itwas so well scripted & presented dat could visualize the actual scenes . A Thrilling Adventure

Darcy Burke's The de Valery Code is a thrilling adventure with mystery, conspiracy, and a healthy dose of romance. Miss Margery Derrington is not your typical damsel in distress. She’s beautiful, smart, and been allowed much freedom by her two elderly aunts. I found it very easy to relate to Margery and her curious nature to question and learn everything. With no other choice but to seek a buyer for a priceless family artifact, she must seek out the aid of Rhys Bowen, an academic scholar specializing in medieval texts. Rhys, an intellectual and a recluse, at first is intrigued by Miss Derrington and proceeds to study her like one of his ancient tombs. Their initial meeting begins an incredible journey, where they discover the secret behind a long hidden code and so much more about each other. It was amusing to see their interactions and hear their internal dialogues. I’m a huge fan of witty repartee and this book has it in abundance. This story was a delight to read. It is true, what they say, the journey is more important than the destination. I am privileged to be a part of Darcy’s Dream Team, where I receive ARCs in exchange for honest reviews.
