    Warm, Funny, Wise

I absolutely LOVED this book; certainly a series of coincidences has something to do with it...I grew up in the 50's/60's in much the same type of family situation as Linwood did, in a small tourist village although not in a trailer camp....and I currently live in the area he is describing in the book. But besides all that...this is simply a wonderful memoir of a time and place never to be seen again. It is in turns hilariously evocative and funny, and desperately sad. I have enjoyed several of Mr. Barclay's mystery novels, but I think this is his best yet. A must read!!

    Last Resort

Delightful read. Wonderful characters in a time and place free from care. A great memoir from a favourite novelist.

    Last Resort

This book was confusing at times, but it was a good book.

    The Last Resort

Linwood does a great job of developing this story of his childhood and family relationships. Considering his success as a writer of mystery novels, this book brings you through his early years and the joy he experienced living on the resort he lived on growing up. I highly recommend it as an easy read that makes you appreciate his humble beginnings.

A Fun Read about Growing Up in Cottage Country

A fun and touching read. Some very funny anecdotes, and very personal ones. Anyone who spent time in central Ontario cottage country as a kid (as I did) would particularly enjoy this book.
