  • Great price; quick read; marching pace.

Gordon Doherty writes fast paced historical fiction. The setting is historically inspired with many characters pulled from fact. Rome was a crumbling empire at the time the "Legionary" series are written. Doherty's battle field descriptions are visceral and graphic. Not easy to read if you are snacking or have a light stomach.

  • Another good yarn

Although it is a good read it's totally unbelievable. They had more escapes than Houdini. But of course I will still read the next book.

  • The hunt for the scroll

Another nail biter of a adventure. To find the lost scroll of the truce between Persian forces and the legions . The plot develops in a series of encounters that ends with the defeat of the small Roman force by a superior Persian army. All seems lost when our heroes are consigned to work in the salt mines with scant hope of escape. However the story moves on and the unexpected happens but read on it ends differently.
