  • Little Girl Blue, definitely worth the read.

I found this book very well researched into the background of the Carpenters as both a singing duo and the family dynamic. This is evident by the many pages of references at the end of the book. I finished the narrative feeling that while her loss was such a tragedy she and her brother left us a legacy of finely crafted music. She was a beautiful person and an enormous talent. The author really tries to give an honest and complete picture regarding the life of Karen Carpenter. A must read for any Carpenter fan and for anyone who has dealt with anorexia nervosa in any capacity.

  • More than syrupy songs

Karen Carpenter was a in her heart more a drummer than a singer. She was in favour of pot libralisaton. She used the f-word and dated a married man. Like Swedish Abba, her song survived time, and like Abba singer Agneta Fältskog, there ws a depth to her that went unoticed, caught as she was in a money-making music machine.
