4 stars for Petrov and Blanton

Loudmouth is the third book in the (Ice Knights) series by Avery Flynn. It follows hockey player Ian Petrov and blogger Shelby Blanton. Ian has always felt like he lived in his dad’s shadow, as the son of a previous ‘Hall of Fame’ winner. His dad made sure he knew that Ian wasn’t as great a player as him. He was a real nasty piece of work. But, there was worse to come when he found out that his best friend was his half-brother, something his father had kept hidden all along. Now, with the truth being outed and by Shelby no less, he’s desperate for some alone time to clear his head. Shelby wants nothing more than to bury her head and wish for the secret to never have gotten out. Both head for an isolated cabin, neither knowing that they have been set up and sent to the same one by a mutual friend. Thanks to a snowstorm, they are forced to face their issues and get to know one another. One thing leads to another and soon they’re forgetting about being snowed in. They make their own heat!! They definitely shared undeniable chemistry and even though they agree that it’s a one-time hookup while they’re away from home, they just can’t help falling deeper as time goes on. The tension between Ian and his brother, Alex Christenson plays into the story quite a bit, as does his terrible relationship with his father. David Petrov is a people-user and is out to make himself look good in the eyes of the public, whether it suits his sons or not. When Shelby stands up to him, he’s quick to try and come between her and Ian. I liked how she didn’t take any of his nonsense in the end. Overall, I really enjoyed this story, it’s fun and mostly light-hearted but with a few serious side pieces. Grab your copy today.

Another great rom-com by Avery Flynn!

Another fun romantic comedy from Avery Flynn! This enemies-to-lovers story has humor, heart, and heat, all layered with Avery Flynn’s trademark snark and sass that I have come to love. I just loved the set-up of this book - forced proximity is so much fun, and knowing that Ian blames Shelby for his current situation the tension between these two, as well as the attraction, just makes for some fun dialogue and steamy times. There was no lack of spark and heat between these two, but between the fraternizing policy that is a convenient excuse for Shelby to shield her heart, and Ian’s inability to see past his father’s shadow, these two just can’t seem to get out of their own way and listen to their hearts. I’m not a huge fan of too much angst, so it did get a bit frustrating watching these two deny what they wanted (each other), but with how things turned out I think it worked for me to make the resolution a bit sweeter. This is the third book in this series but can easily be read as a stand-alone - but beware, you will probably end up wanting to read all of the books! One of my favorite parts of reading a series (including cross-over series) is that you get to revisit with old characters and learn more about those who will most likely be featured in upcoming stories. I loved seeing Lucy with her baby and the few glimpses of some of the other characters, and I really loved finding out more about Alex, who I hope is who the next book is about! I am a huge fan of Avery Flynn’s writing style - her dialogue and prose just flow on the pages and make her books an easy read. I love her sense of humor and her ability to create strong characters, and I love that her heroines can all stand on their own, despite their own perceived flaws and weaknesses. I would definitely recommend adding this one to your TBR!

    Snark, Sizzles, and So Good

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this wonderful, snarky, and funny book, Loud Mouth by Avery, book three in her Ice Knights series. This story, in typical Avery style, had me on an emotional journey as we followed Shelby and Ian’s enemies to friends love story as they haphazardly slide across the ice, scoring yet another goal. Needing to find an outlet and direction for her life, Shelby started writing a hockey blog, The Biscuit. A few years later she lands a position with the Ice Knights, expanding her blog. A phone call from her mother, featuring some juicy hockey gossip, is overheard by a local news reporter. Not having any scruples this reporter lets the city know that Ice Knights’ hockey star Ian Petrov’s best friend and teammate is actually his half brother. Surprise!! Shelby is embarrassed that the news was made public before Ian was informed of this bit information; since he had no prior clue. Instead of being mad with his dad or former best friend/brother from another mother, he’s angry with me; the poor messenger. In an attempt to get away, Shelby hides away in a remote cabin only to discover Ian had the same idea and arrives at the same cabin in the middle of the night. Of all the luck in the world, these two awaken after a massive blizzard trapping them in the cabin. The sizzling attraction and chemistry are causing a major tension between them that only kisses, caresses, and a bed can release. Ian has turned into a snarly grump and Shelby is imagining all the things she wants Ian to do and how amazing it would be. After escaping from the cabin, Shelby is assigned to cover the brothers during a road trip. These enemies are fast becoming friends, and possibly more as they spend time together, getting to truly know and understand each other. When things get complicated, Shelby is there, standing up for and protecting Ian. Now Ian has to figure out how to keep Shelby alongside him, and in his life, possibly forever. Ms. Flynn wrote a wonderful and hysterical story that was moving and filled with sizzling chemistry, humorous and snarky dialogue, and endearing characters that should definitely not be missed. I highly recommend Loud Mouth to other readers.

    Fun and Sexy!

I loved this because it was easy, not too long, and has the right amount of humor and sexiness that I couldn't put it down. The tension and banter between them was hilarious and it didn't hurt that their chemistry was downright explosive.

    Ice Knights fan for life!

This was the story I had been waiting for in this series! This is the story of Ian and Shelby. Take a cabin, a whole mess of chemistry and two beautifully quirky characters, and watch the pages melt with humor, heat, and heart. Shelby is such a complicated and enduring character! The struggles and triumphs she goes through are so commendable! It made me in awe of her, she was a complicated puzzle that Ian could only figure out. Ian, whew, this fella is also complicated.  To the surprises about his family and living in the shadow of his father, his whole life has truly molded him into the man he is.  He is the epitome of "silent waters run deep". There is so much more to him than what he reveals to the world.  And Shelby is the lucky soul that gets to have him! I have so much love for this series!  Each book can be read as a standalone, but do yourself a favor and read them all!!
