  • small beginings.

The mageborn series as an overall has been a great success and is an imaginative, interesting and enjoyable read. The books grow epic as the series continue, and the author grows in his writing skills right along with it. This first book is far from a masterpiece of writing but well worth trudging through to be rewarded with three wonderful sequels and one prequel so far. Dont judge this book by its lackluster cover, and dont judge the author by this book alone. my recommendation to anyone is to jump headfirst into this magical world and let it engross you. you will not be dissapointed.

  • An interesting new world

Short but powerful story with simple yet interesting characters. Love the way Michael relays the thoughts of the main character in the story.

  • A great read!

This novel was full of emotions, excitement and the splashes of humour added reality and substance to the storyline. There were some unexpected twists but generally a certain amount of predictability, which I liked. The only thing I would say broke up the flow of the story somewhat was the narrative at the beginning of each chapter. I felt that could have been part of the prologue without giving away any part of the plot.

  • A good read.

This was a good read. Mordecai is a fun and enjoyable character to follow and I will admit that I was surprised by the depth of the story considering the low number of pages. I liked the development of relationships within the story and the pace of the story in general. I'm looking forward to finding out what happens to Mordecai in the books to come
