  • Heartfelt and thoroughly inspiring

Coming from the same part of the world as Damian Barr and being roughly the same age, this wonderful memoir struck several chords with me. I can hear the voices of the characters and everyone here knew at least three or four of them from their own neighbourhoods. We all lived with the same prejudices, personal and sectarian, and all stood and watched as the government of the day, which no one voted for, ripped the hearts out of our communities. People from all backgrounds and parts of the work, however, will find this a moving, touching, bittersweet tale of a young man succeeding despite and because of his family and socio-economic environment to write one of the most endearing memoirs I've ever come across.

    Thanks for your feedback!
