    Imaginative

So I had to break a little break from this book in the beginning because of the feels (some parts just hit a little too close to home). But that soul crushing opening, I started to get into the story a bit more. I would say I enjoyed the concepts and environment of the world Headley illustrated to the reader along with the interactions and the depth of the character's monologues. The plot if you remove the incredible descriptions and fantasy was pretty dull, rushed and held no real surprises. I felt like I knew where the story was going but we took the long way around and tried to stuff as much fantasy and dreamlike ideas in between, which were cool, but there was no depth to them and their meaning. I'm not sure how to feel about Aza Ray as as character either. I like that she's witty, strong and quirky. She's clearly a strong character before and after her powers, but her actions throughout the story don't really show any evidence of that independence and will. There were a lot of situations where she just went with the flow or was really slow to the punch. Jason is resourceful, multilayered, and full of surprises and he just gets better throughout the story. I only wish that he played a bigger role in the grand scheme of things. Overall as far as concept and imagination this book is incredible, but as far as plot development and suspense, it was pretty weak. I just wish we could really go into some of the finer details of the awesome world of Magonia and it's residents.

    BEST BOOK EVER

This was honestly one of the best books I've read in a really long time. Some moments made me feel so sad and moved that I had big fat tears rolling down my cheeks.

    Finally

I've finally found a book to spark my love of reading into rekindling. I had such a great time reading this story I bought an e-copy for my daughter. So far she's loving it.
