    Avant-garde Mathematics Goes Viral

School mathematics ranges from Euclid in the BC to Newton in the Renaissance. What a yawn! Ever wonder what happened from Newton to Today? At a loose end, author Malcolm Cameron decided to promulgate the most difficult mathematical/physics topics in existence. Everything from Pythagoras’ mathematics to related 2017 Superstring Theory. In String Theory, the Universe is composed of 10^80 identical small vibrating strings, one for each fundamental particle, about the Planck Length of 10^-35 meters to produce the Theory of Everything. This is today’s sensational theory of the universe. Except that there is no experimental evidence for it whatsoever. (To prevent confusing readers, the Planck Length is the natural length scale of the universe so fundamental it would be recognised by any advanced space-person visiting Earth. It was created, more likely discovered, by Max Planck. A Spaceperson will understand measurements in terms of Planck length, mass and time “Units for length, mass, time ... which being independent of specific bodies or substances, retain their meaning for all times and all cultures, even non-terrestrial and non-human ones” Max Planck, 1899.) Will readers understand ‘Mathematics the Truth’? Most unlikely. Richard Feynman, the legendary physicist, said ‘I think I can safely say that nobody understands quantum mechanics’. In comparison, ‘Mathematics the Truth’ includes not only Quantum Mechanics but Special & General Relativity, String Theory, Superstring Theory, plus The Theory of Everything, infinity, and more, but nothing hard otherwise according to Cameron. Even if our understanding is on the light side, there is a group of experiments about to be performed at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN Switzerland which will bring experiment back into line with String Theory. Readers will be really able to understand this work and appreciate the greatest mathematical physics feats ever; or be stuck in Euclid to Newton forever. Be part of it! Readers will learn the real mathematics, no compromise, written in a light-hearted accurate manner as told by the Rabbi and his student. This book ignites a debate about modernising mathematics teaching, upgrading from the Renaissance in mathematics and the 1920’s in physics. Cameron’s book provides a game start about how that should and can be done. It is a debate that must proceed and should proceed quickly. Written by: Robert Gordon July 2018
