A unique story with flawed characters

Metal Angels offers a unique blend of ancient myths and futuristic technology that's utterly fascinating. Told through the eyes of four characters -- all vastly different from each other and all facing inner demons which will challenge them in the divine war about to play out -- one gets the sense that this first part of the story will build to a climax nothing short of epic in later installments, and this reader is more than ready for the ride to come. I loved the richness of setting -- unfamiliar terms are peppered organically throughout the narrative, never slowing the pace or distracting from the story -- and I especially enjoyed the characters who are fully fleshed and rather flawed. Blake intrigued me from the start; don't be fooled by her discipline and self-control, she has her own secret just like her brash sister, Kira who at this point is a favourite character. Her audacity will make you laugh out loud on the one hand, but on the other she'll undoubtedly form a soft spot in your heart. Part One comes to a satisfactory ending, though being a serial there are things readers will be keen to know, like what will become of Azrael, will the Gallu follow their destiny and will Blake and Kira mend their fractured relationship? This reader is very much looking forward to more.
