    A good read...

The last of the Bernie Gunther novels lacks some of the bite of the earlier ones, but still a good read set against the rise of the Nazis in a turbulent Berlin. Philip Kerr RIP.

The last Bernie Gunther story - sad.

Although a little slow to start and get going, by half way through I was transfixed and couldn’t put the book down. I’ll miss Bernie.

    Good-ish

Not his finest but entertaining enough. Not as polished as other BG novels. A little too predictable. Pretty much established who the culprit was half-way through. Previous BG stories intertwined the plot with actual events and people of the time. That made the stories more real and relevant. Not quite so much with this one. Taken in isolation a decent read, but those familiar with the other BG novels may feel slightly disappointed.
