  • Better than the first one

Rarely as it happens, this sequel is even better than the first book. Main character is more believable (doesn't compare real dates to Mr Darcy...), plot gains some speed and action, characters from previous book are faithful to their originals and finally Pembrook Park becomes a fascinating and mysterious place more than a stiff vacation spot for spoilt and fake millionaire's wives. As the requirements for the plot loosen a bit the tight Regency manners, we are better introduced to characters from previous book. That gives them a background story and makes them less eccentric and more...human;) Author proved that, just like Austen, she can create different stories of a very different characters and make them as intriguing and lovable as we wish they were;)

  • Romance and a mystery.

Midnight in Austenland is such a fun read. I love Charlotte. I love that she’s kind and smart. I love that the people around her see those things, even if some of those people are ex-husbands and mysterious murderers who use those traits against her. I love that Mrs Wattlesbrook is redeemed (at least a little) after her less than stellar first impressions in ‘Austenland’. I love seeing Miss Charming again. This is a book full of life, love, friendship, mystery and a satisfying amount of character development.

  • Worthy companion to Austenland

Loved this follow up to Austenland and hope it is made into a film as well. A great read

  • Midnight in Austenland

More of a thriller than the previous novel. This one is inspired by Northanger Abbey. You obtain more details about the characters first introduced in Austenland. A great light read for the summer.
