  • long held secret

Another great read in the series. This time we get to learn about Nell's past when she finally reveals her secret she has kept for 10 years. The girls are all growing and blossoming as the resort takes another step closer to opening.

  • Slow Start

This book is the first I have read by this author, so I have not read the other books in the series. The author starts with a look back to when the main characters knew each other at university, so I didn't feel completely lost. I could tell, though, that I would probably appreciate the story better if I knew the entire stories of the other women that took place previously. I thought the book was a bit slow to start. It is a novella, so the author needs to get to the meet-cute quickly, or there isn't enough space to develop the romance or the characters as they have to grow and change to accept that romance. The hero and heroine didn't meet up in the present day until after the 20% mark. Since they have a complex history and the heroine has a lot to work out, I didn't feel this gave enough time for the romance to properly build. The story, unfortunately, ends on a cliffhanger, which I am not a fan of. I honestly believe that authors should put that in book descriptions so those of us who don't appreciate such things can skip the book. All in all, I thought this was a decent book that offered an interesting look at a place I have no clue about, but I just felt the characterization and plot lacked the space they needed because of a slow start. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
