  • Beautiful writing.

I just loved reading this , beautifully written. This is definitely an enjoyable read and the next instalment is already on my wish list. The story moves along at a good pace and although it's fiction the author has done his research into the radical treatment used by some doctors decades ago, I loved it .

  • An interesting read, but far from perfect

This was my first time reading anything by this particular author and I found it to be a fairly well written book. I will admit that this was a free download on the Kobo store and when I got further into the story, I could see why. There are certain aspects of the story that the author goes to great pains to describe but then fails to expand on these points - so as a result, the reader will finish the book with several questions that are left unanswered. These are not deep, mysterious questions that are deliberate on the part of the author, but rather they are failures on the part of the book editor to thoroughly review the continuity of the storyline. The story is interesting enough and I think most people will enjoy reading the story, but it does come across as being a less than stellar performance on the part of the author and the editor who should have picked up on some of the continuity errors in this story.

  • Engrossing amateur mystery investigator story

Emily Swanson flees to London after her life as a teacher in a small Cornwall village turns upside down. As soon as she moves into her new flat, she discovers that the previous tenants left under circumstances that don't add up. As Emily and her new downstairs friend, Jerome, look into her disappearance, she discovers a menacing and evil medical establishment. The way that Richards develops Emily's character is charming. The style of the writing pulls you in. Clean, witty and effective. I want to read the next book in the series I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
