    Thanks for your feedback!

Wish I could give this book 10 stars out of 5!

This book is indeed outstanding! It can be read as a stand alone as well as part of the Marnie Rome series which began with Someone Else's Skin. I highly recommend this book for its interesting plot, characters and of course the really enjoyable bit, the twists and turns! The story begins with two young boys who we learn early in the book have been found dead. This forms the basis of Marnie's investigation and the parallels with her own life and story are dealt with with sensitivity and understanding. For those who like depth, compassion, and a really good mystery, you will love this novel! Sarah Hilary is a great new star on the writing circuit!

Marnie Rome's return does not disappoint

DI Marnie Rome is back and she's got a pig of a case to solve. The remains of two young boys have been found in a war bunker in a family's back garden but no one had reported them missing! Who are these boys? How did they get into the bunker? Why is no one missing them? Rome, DS Jake and the rest of the team have got a challenge on their hands! As well as the ensuing case, we get to see more of the personal lives of Rome and her budding romance with Ed Belloc and that of Noah Jake, his boyfriend Dan and his brother Sol. I did enjoy seeing this side of the detectives - it made them that bit more human and normal; showing the job does affect them and they have personal issues to deal with like we readers do in the real world. This books has many twists and turns which I loved. I had a theory worked out half way through and I was nowhere near! Having the interlude of the initially anonymous character in preparing for release added to the intrigue. Who is this person(s)? I do hope we see more from the tenacious Marnie Rome and her team. These first two instalments have been brilliant. These are a refreshing change; crime novels without the murder that I'm used to and love. A solid 4.5 stars from me. Thank you to Netgalley and Headline for giving me this ebook in exchange for my honest review.
