  • A lot of generalizations

I enjoyed it at the beginning but as time went I found that there were a lot of generalizations. Not all people are like that and details like inserting coins in the shopping carts ~ we've been doing that for years in Canada. How could one spend so much time in a country and speak so little of the language?

  • Mastering the Art of French Living

This was a great read. I’ve spent time in France and really appreciated the loving picture of village life. It’s another world and the values are quite different to those we have over the pond.

  • How to go into a situation completely unprepared

This had the makings of a great book. At the end of each chapter we got a 10 point review of the particular situation. Some of this was good but after the second chapter I skipped to the next chapter. The grocery shopping was dumb why not get a buggy (must be a man) It was funny and interesting and at imes i wondered if it was true.

  • Entertaining and informative

They say it's better to learn from the mistakes of others and I've learned a lot of useful information from this author who willingly shared his mistakes and misadventures. This is better than any guidebook I've ever come across. I've especially enjoyed and appreciated the "What I've Learned" sections at the end of each chapter. I hope to go to France someday and those tidbits will be very helpful.
