  • Splendid fun!

This is a segment of an ongoing series and definitely better read in order. Our herione appears as a secondary character at least three or four books before. And some of the plot doesn't make sense if you don't already know some stuff. It addresses a couple of serious issues, notably the powerlessness of women in the 18th century and the anomalous situation of mixed race children, but mostly it's a delightful road trip romp. Perfect beach reading. Hoyt is actually quite up to speed with genuine history of England in the early 1740's and there are no references to books that hadn't yet been written or chipmunks running over the lawn... 😊

    Thanks for your feedback!
