  • The perfect festive read.

The perfect festive read. I love Trisha Ashley’s writing, in particular her Christmas stories and her latest release does not disappoint. I could not put this book down, it’s almost Agatha Christie vibe with the whole will get to inherit the castle leads to a wide variety of characters. But the bulk of the story revolves around Sabine, the current owner, who wants one last festive season, and is determined to relive Christmas traditions from her past In comes Dido and the hilarious Henry, their job is to service and cater the castle and bring it back to life in time for a Christmas, none of the visitors will forget. Mix in food, family secrets, simmering romantic tension and the most adorable dog (I’m a sucker for the pups) One More Christmas at the Castle is a must read for Christmas 2021. My thanks, as always to @TrishaAshley, @Netgalley and @PenguinRandomHouse @TransworldPublishers for allowing me to read and review this 5 star festive novel.

  • Character read

This is a very typical Trisha Ashley read, warm and uplifting with a two strong main female characters and host of other well rounded characters to boot. The Christmas feel in this builds up well as Dido and Henry work their household magic whilst employed by Sabine to manage her castle home over December. We are treated to Sabines memories of her past both good and bad as well as her life, or end of life to be accurate currently whilst she considers the future of her estate. This is a fabulous character read with a lot of seasonal cheer and winter warmth.

  • Wonderful Christmas book with family intrigue

Wonderful Christmas book with family intrigue. Sabine owns Mitras Castle but is dying and wants to make sure the castle is passed on to the right person. She has a few 'interesting' relatives, but no children or grandchildren to pass it on to. So she invites the few relatives left to the castle, along with a few friends, for Christmas where she will finally make up her mind who to leave it to, or to bequeath it to the National Trust. Dropped in the middle of the family drama are Dido and Henry, owners of Heavenly House Parties, who are employed over the Christmas period to cook and generally look after everyone in their 'house party' host roles. But unbeknownst to Dido, Sabine has employed her for a reason, not necesssarily the nicest one, but that does (very!) slowly change, with a little help from Sabine's best friend, ex-vicar Nancy, who helps her come to terms with everything. A really lovely book, full of family secrets, forgiveness, lovely food, snow, great characters, romance, a cute dog - and just a wonderful Christmas feeling. I do love a Trisha Ashley book!
