    Fire and Passion

The Duke of Colehaven has not lost a bet for ten years and when his friends bets him he can’t find a husband for his cousin he can’t refuse or he’ll die trying to keep his winning streak alive. After all how hard can it be to marry off one wallflower to an eligible young bachelor? Supposed wallflower Diana Middleton has no need for a husband, doesn’t want one. She’s perfectly content to bringing dishonest businessmen to justice and what she doesn’t need is a duke interfering with her plans. Cole isn’t quite what she expected for a peer of the realm. Cole doesn’t’ know what to expect, but his meeting with Diana doesn’t go as unexpected when she sets him straight and threatens him into leaving. I love this fiery romance, the more they fight the more you can just feel the attraction as their sizzling passion grows until it consumes them. A great start to a new series!!!I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

    great romance

One Night for Seduction is the first book in the new Wicked Dukes Club regency romance series. Erica Ridley is writing the odd-numbered books in this series, and Darcy Burke is writing the even-numbered books. I love both writers, so this is a total win win for Regency romance fans. This was a clever and intelligently written story. I really enjoyed the heroine Diana Middleton. She is witty and determined in her mission to help others. I always enjoy it when an author infuses real historical fact into their writing. The 1815 Weights and Measures Act was a real piece of legislation. Diana’s desire for there to be uniformity in measuring for trade was actually a problem for people back then. Since there was no uniformity, tradesmen could steal from the public quite easily. Ridley takes a topic that could be boring and turns it into something quite magical. I also enjoyed the heart throbbing hero - Caleb Sutton, fifth Duke of Colehaven. Ridley is hands down one of my very favorite authors. I am excited to see her launch a new series. This book was gifted to me.

    I liked it

Diana Middleton has a brilliant mind and she wants to use it to help make things better in the world. Of course this has to be done in secret, so of course she dons many disguises in order to accomplish her work. The ton and her guardian would never approve of what she is doing. That's why she has decided to remain a spinster, no one to tell her what she can and can't do. Cole, the Duke of Coleham, is on a winning streak, a 10 year winning streak. So when one of his friends, dares him, wagers with him, he accepts the challenge. The wager..... to find and arrange a match for the unmarriageable ward of another friend....Diana Middleton. The story is fast moving and entertaining. I think Diana was a little too forward and independent for the time. I thought Cole a little bit too much of a pushover. The first time they meet, she chases him from the townhouse. Then she seduces him. I liked it but didn't love it.

A spitfire knows what she wants

The roles in seduction are reversed when it comes to Diana and Cole. You know it’s going to be interesting when the butler get unnerved by someone calling on her. They butt heads from the start, but they are so much alike. I loved their battles because I never knew what would happen next. Everyone around them seemed to know what was going to happen. Diana is a spitfire that goes to great lengths to hide from people. She is extremely bold in everything she does and doesn’t shy away from anything. She just needed to see it wasn’t her battle to fight alone. Cole wasn’t prepared for the battles when it came to Diana. I loved his story about his life and how he went about things with her. He didn’t hesitate once he knew his feelings. Copy provided for an honest and voluntary review

    Lighthearted and romantic

What is a woman to do when she is born with a brain that outshines that of most men? She hides in plain sight and determines her course in spite of the norms of society. Diana Middleton doesn't want a husband and she certainly doesn't want the ideals of other women of her era, namely a wealthy husband, the latest fashions and children. An unjust measuring system? Now that is something she can get her teeth into. Taking on a bet to marry Diana off before the season is over is just up the Duke of Colehaven's street. He's never lost a bet and matching Diana with a suitable husband is a walk in the park. That is until he finds himself being bemused and confused by a brilliant young woman who stands up to him and challenges him at every turn. I thoroughly enjoyed all the characters in this book. There wasn't a bad egg amongst them. As this novel is the beginning of the series, it also introduces the other Wicked Dukes and I look forward to reading all about them. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
