  • Not my favorite

Well this is a hard one. This book was a good read but definitely not one of my favorites from this author. It kind of felt like it took bit's and peices from the Ring series and cobbled it together for a new quick read. Not a lot of new ideas at least in this first novel. Generally when I Start a Morgan Rice book. It's a wonderful story, combined with Rich characters and a wonderful world. This gets three stars just on the hope it will get better. Don't get me wrong it's still entertaining just not what one would expect from this Author. Oh I received a copy of this book for an honest review.,.

  • Another great start to a new fantasy series!

Morgan Rice is one of my favorite authors. She never disappoints me and this promises to be another great series. I suffered over the injustices heaped on the peasants by the nobility, which were only the start of the cruelty, betrayal, and hand-to-hand battles. There is romance, friendships formed and destroyed, and some horrendous journeys. I was given the book and I finished it in one day. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

  • Unbelievable

And I mean that literally... I know it’s fantasy, but some things need to be realistic....oars that goes thirty feet to the water and they are able to pull them? When they arrive at the red isle camp, Morgan writes that there are a dozen of them left, and then later writes that there are dozens? This inconsistency is in many of Morgan’s books....and yet, I still read them and can’t put them down...the stories are good fun. Just wish there was a better editor.

  • Had me Hooked by page 3 - Justice for the Underdog

Morgan has done it again!! I was hooked just 3 pages into it and had a hard time putting it down at night so I could get some sleep. It has the perfect amount of atmosphere that feels historical yet isn't, it is easy to get drawn into the story and feel a part of it....every page brought scenes to life in my minds eye. If you enjoy the regular man getting justice from the wrongdoing of an unfair society than you'll love this book. Great characters with relationships that I could relate to easily. This book makes a man yearn for the days of Pit fighting and stopping at nothing to defend your beloved!!
