  • Robbers and cops at the space station

Author gave me an advanced copy of the book for reading and reviewing. The book was something I didn't quite expect: an almost normal case of coppers and robbers. That is not the full story, though. Everything happens in a remote space station, police has very few resources and the bad guys have lot more. That's not fair! The story is good and people have quite a lot of character. Life on the station flows naturally without any unnecessary explaining of every detail. Obviously not everything is told and next books in the series can expand the story. I just could not shut down my ebook reader and had to give quite many of my sleeptime hours to the book. Thus, it is fair to give lot of stars: 4/5.

  • Opportunity:a review

Two Democracies - Opportunity - a review by Rosemary Kenny Head of Security Dave Pratt is a Dirty Harry-like cop, who sometimes associates with Underworld criminals in a 'you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours'/'blind eye' arrangement, which works well until the strange murder of a secretive local Government official takes place, that sees him demoted and replaced by an off-world newcomer, quick to think the worst of Dave's unique interpretation of the rules, despite his great improvement in reducing the local crime rate. Dave's lovely wife Jessica is growing increasingly anxious and impatient too, at the dangers and long hours his demanding career makes on him; both his children are confused at times too. Can Dave prove he's trustworthy and guaranteed to get results, even if his modus operandi is a little unconventional, to say the least? Read Two Democracies: Opportunity, Alasdair Shaw's great new series opener and buckle up for a wild ride-along!
