    Quick wholesome read

Unassuming, simple but engaging. Heart warming and hopeful. A chance for true intimacy yet. Age, wisdom and fragility.

    Wonderful Read

This is a poignant and memorable book. The characters are beautifully drawn without a single wasted word. There is great truth to this story; it explores loneliness and love with great insight and warmth. My first Ken Haruf. Look forward to reading others.

    Poignant love

A tender story of two older adults finding companionship and affection when it was not expected. Haruf writes sparsely yet with a sensitivity to the often disenfranchised emotional needs of the elderly. His characters evoke feelings that are subtly drawn from his readers such that one is left with a sense of poignant familiarity and an acknowledgment of having to recognise the reality of some family lives.

    Moving

I loved this book. It was very gentle and told the story of a very plausable situation that any one of us could end up in. Before people meddle they need to think of the damage and hurt that may be being done to someone they are supposed to love. It all comes back to money in the end and the possibility of missing out on your share.
