  • Great contemporary mystery/thriller

FBI agent Drex Easton and two of his colleagues Mike Mallory and Gifford Lewis are on a mission to catch a man they believe to have killed at least eight women. This particular killer looks for wealthy women, manages to drain their bank accounts and then murders them. He is clever and illusive. He has escaped capture for almost 20 years. The only picture of him is on a boat of one of the women who have been murdered but the picture of him is so blurry it’s hard to distinguish what he actually looks like. After each murder he changes his looks and identity for a new one and moves on. The killer is careful he leaves nothing behind not even a body. Until one is found in a crate Marian Harris, she had been buried alive. The name they had for him was Weston Graham but this could have just been another of his Aliases of which he has had numerous. Drex, Mike and Gif don’t want their boss Rudkowski to know what they are doing. Seeing that they like to do things that aren’t strictly by the book. Now they believe they have Weston in their sights Drex doesn’t want him to disappear again this may be the only chance they have of catching him.. Drex has a way with words and can seem to talk his way out of most situations. Rudkowski really doesn’t like Drex and is constantly trying to find out what the three of them are up to but they thwart him in some way each time he gets close. Mike and Gif think they have found their man this time using the name Jasper Ford and he has a new wife Talia Ford although she still uses her maiden name Shafer. Drex is convinced that Jasper is their man but the others aren’t as convinced and try to persuade Drex to take a step back but he isn’t having it. He rents a place opposite the Fords house pretending to be a writer, where he can watch all everything that’s going on. Is Talia in on it with Jasper? Is she next on his kill list as she is a wealthy woman? Drex is drawn to Talia he finds her attractive and he wants her, against his own good advice! Then there is Elaine Conner another wealthy woman who is a friend of both Talia and Jasper..Drex is certain that Jasper Ford is their man but he has to get the proof. Which is easier said than done. Because Jasper is very cautious and he suspects Drex isn’t who he says he is. I loved this book Sandra Brown has done it again. The story is so well plotted and everything falls into place although sometimes it really doesn’t go how you expected it to. A bit of romance. Murder, mystery and Mahem what more could you want from a good book to sit and read curled up in a chair or lying on a sun bed on your holidays this book has it all. I can highly recommend it. I loved it. If you like Linda Howard or Nora Roberts this will suit you if you are looking for something more gruesome and gritty this isn’t that type of thriller. Thank you to #netgalley #Hodder&Stoughton #sandrabrown for letting me have an ARC of this book all opinions are my own and honest

  • A Masterpiece of Romantic Suspense

Although I haven’t read any other books by this author, I had no problem getting stuck in and I was really thrilled with the story! Drex Easton, a FBI agent, is on the hunt for an elusive serial killer. He finally gets a lead and heads to Charleston, South Carolina, going undercover to get the man he's spent the last twenty years pursuing. But this man is married to a beautiful young woman named Talia - a woman that Drex wasn't expecting to encounter during his search and from the first moment he realised that she would be trouble. Drex is drawn to rich, young Talia and he is anxious that she could well be the killer's next victim. As the story progresses he is drawn more and more to Talia and he knows he is in deep waters.  There were so many twists and turns in this book and even though the reader was privy to the killer’s identity in the story, it was still extremely engaging. I just didn't know what was going to happen next. Outfox kept me on my toes and fully entertained all the way through. In this book Sandra Brown has drawn a superb list of characters, some likeable an others definitely not! The surprise twist at the end was brilliant and I never saw it coming. A fabulous read from this new-to-me author, I can't wait to read another of her books. If you are a fan of romantic suspense you don't want to miss Outfox! I received a complimentary copy of this novel from Hodder & Stoughton via NetGalley at my own request. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
