  • Outfoxed

The complete cast of characters in the Andy Carpenter series is back, and Andy uses his unbeatable charm, his lawyer's bag of tricks, to defend his client and get rid of his old nemesis for good. There are a few heartwarming moments, but the majority of the time was keeping witnesses alive to testify. A new dog is introduced near the beginning, Boomer, and he immediately testifies to Brian's, Andy's client, innocence because Brian risks his life to save Boomer even as the police are getting ready to arrest him. Now I ask you, would a murderer risk his life to save a dog? No, never! And Andy knows he again has an innocent client. 5/5 I loved the book. Read it, you will too.

  • Great!

law-enforcement, lawyers, situational-humor, snark-fest, verbal-humor, murder, murder-investigation, mobsters, computer-nerd, family-dynamics, friendship, framed, dogs***** Take a wisemouthed lawyer who can afford to take semi retirement by only representing innocent clients while supporting an animal shelter, add in that his wife is no longer law enforcement but works as his private investigator and more and you have the baseline for this convoluted mystery. There are many other people who help Andy find out what the truth really is and make it courtroom admissible. I was disappointed in the prosecutions evidence, but it made for a much better sleuthing opportunity to prove the client's case (as well as some other stuff). Lots of twists and turns in the plot and the characters certainly are, but there's no need for spoilers or an attempt at a summary. I found it to be a real brain grabber and was surprised to find that it is the most recent in a series! At no time does the reader feel lost or as if missing background info. Grover Gardner narrates this complicated snarkfest very well!
