    Heartwarming

The book was captivating and down to earth. A truly good read which I finish in 2 days. However the ending could have been more meaningful

I loved this book with its rich characters and storyline over generations and historical events. I got a shock when it finished as I hadn’t been paying attention to where I was in the book, I wanted it to go on and on.

A beautiful, harrowing ,human story! Shows the simplicity and complexity of human life , especially for those who tread the wire of multiethnic identity!

Simplistic style of book depicting the troubles caused by Japanese oppression throughout many generations of a rural family from early to late 20th century. A fascinating insight into the cultural and historical facts of the time.

I really enjoyed this book. I love history and this gives an insight into a country I know very little about. Anyone who enjoys history should really like this book.
