    Humor and heart!

Avery Flynn has once again delivered a romance that brings the humor and the heart! Fake relationships are always fun, and Caleb and Zara’s story was not only a fun read, but also delivered an emotional punch as these two had to navigate through some past issues to find their way to their future together. “Five dates and we’re done. Period” – what a great plan for both Zara and Caleb . Without the pressure of having to date, these two were able to let their guards down a bit and I loved how that led to some fun banter and allowed them to get to know each other a bit deeper than the “being on your best behavior since we’re just dating” would have let them. And I think without starting off the way they did they never would have been able to address the baggage that they had to deal with. I loved how they were so compatible in so many ways, and it was easy to see Caleb was the one for Zara when Anchovy clearly approved of him! Zara’s dad and Caleb’s mom added the whole “Parental Guidance’ to the story and brought both humor and heart. As over the top that these two could be, it was clear that they wanted the best for their children, and I was so happy to we got to see those relationships strengthen and mend. Caleb’s teammates showed why Caleb thought of his team as family, keeping Caleb’s head in the game and giving him relationship advice, or at least trying to in that guy way that is always awkward and uncomfortable and often leads to a bit of friendly violence. And we all need a friend like Gemma – someone to serve us some shots of tequila and get us to step outside of our comfort zone and remind us we need to live, well, maybe minus the tequila! I had a lot of fun with this one and enjoyed Caleb and Zara’s story. Filled with Avery Flynn’s trademark sass, snark, humor, heart, and heat, this is one for your TBR! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book I received from the publisher from NetGalley.

    a fun read

When I saw the synopsis of this book, it sounded a bit quirky and funny so I figured why not give it a chance? I am glad that I did because this sports romantic comedy had me laughing and some places and happy sighing in others. The concept behind the dating app, Bramble, is quite comical albeit unrealistic because it involves 5 dates and the parents are involved in picking out who they date followed up by TV interviews. Both Caleb and Zara really don’t want to participate, but they each have their reasons for doing so. I really liked Caleb, a defenseman for the Iced Knights. He lands himself in hot water and I admire that he would do what it takes to protect his team. He has some personal struggles and the author does a beautiful job of showing how it has affected his approach to life. Zara is a likable character as well. She a miniatures artisan who craves stability and order given how she grew up. She is full of sass and I love her sarcastic nature. Zara and Caleb make an unlikely pair, but the two of them together just work. Each date is unique and fun to read and there are a few steamy scenes. The question is, will they admit their growing feelings towards each other and what will happen after those 5 dates? The secondary characters are a hoot. Zara’s dad is absolutely hilarious when they all have to do the reality TV portion. Caleb’s mom is a ballbuster and I found the banter between the two parents to be quite entertaining. Caleb’s teammates and Zara’s best friend are also great additions to the book. If you are looking for a light-hearted romantic comedy with likable characters, then you will enjoy this book. I received Parental Guidance for free and I am looking forward to read more books from her Ice Knights series.

    Just smitten!

Haha!! Totally smitten with this sweet and adorably hilarious romantic comedy! Over the last year or so I have read at least four Avery Flynn books and I'm just so happy to have found an author this just plan tickles me pink!! I love the storyline of a hockey player being disciplined and the punishment is his mom taking over his dating life... or at least with an app he doesn't really want to do... I mean, don’t you just FEEL the hilarity coming for ya?! In my odd way of reading between the lines, I like the deeper meaning that it isn't ok to just let things happen around you. We should always stand up for what's right. But more so, hockey players should be defending their teammates even if it's from a verbal assault behind someone's bad. Anyway, Zara and Caleb are fabulous together!! I laughed throughout their troubled road while getting where they need to be. I sure hope Avery Flynn keeps these quick-witted and fun characters and storylines coming! I can't seem to get enough of them! I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

    Great read

Tons of laugh out loud fun, wonderful snark, sass, and witty banter along with a good amount of sizzling sexy times. Yep I'm reading an Avery Flynn book and it's great! Caleb just wants to play hockey but trouble just seems to find him. He's dealing with a PR nightmare when his hurricane of a mom comes into town adding even more chaos to his life. Before he knows what hit him she has him signed up to an online dating app. Nothing can go wrong with this idea right???? Zara can't believe she agreed to this crazy dating plan but here she is so let's get this done. Five dates is all she needs. Surely she can handle five dates. There is no way hearts will get involved in that short amount of time. Yeah, right! For a fun entertaining read grab this one and get ready to laugh and swoon. I definitely recommend it.
