  • Paris for one

It was a great train Tavel book. I could read a story on a trip to the city. The stories were written in such a way that you were transported!

  • Pleasant reading romantic stories

The first story, "Paris for One", is the main one, taking up a third of the book. It was beautiful; capturing so well the roller-coaster of emotions that is travelling solo. The fear, the thrill, the joy. I particularly enjoyed it because we can't travel at the moment... and honestly I felt transported to Paris. It made me want to beeline for the nearest patisserie and daydream. The short story "Honeymoon in Paris" is a few chapters alternating between a newlywed couple in 2002 Paris, and a newlywed couple living in 1912 Paris. The interweaving between is satisfying. An insightful reflection on how marriage changes people. The other stories are quite short - snippets of various characters experiencing life changing moments. All set in England. Quick and easy reads. Overall an enjoyable read. Good vivid writing without being dense or slow. Emotionally engaging but not too taxing.
