    Thanks for your feedback!

A story not to be repeated.

A huge story with myriad facts and figures. Excellent writing with stories of the battles in WW1 in the last parts of the war in Europe. Stories are told from many angles - politicians, civilians near the battle front, families waiting at 'home", senior ranking military officers, their subordinates and soldiers who fought and who were injured, or died or simply disappeared in the mud or who were blown apart by shelling and were never seen again. The stories are detailed and emotional, the statistics are numerous and the numbers of people lost are breathtaking. Hard reading, but well worth the effort to see how barbaric war between civilised nations can be.

    Great well argued overview

Paul Ham is an excellent author who has done an outstanding job of telling the tale of this important campaign. Through primary and secondary sources he looks at the event from the strategic through to the 'on the ground' perspective. Recommended.
