A story of love and sacrifice

A thoroughly enjoyable romance, Playing at Love ticks all the blocks. Kate is protecting her heart and she is also protecting her daughter from disappointment. Whether or not her reasons for blocking out love from her life are valid, her motives are good as so many children get hurt by their parents' swinging door romantic relationships. When a mom finds herself falling head over heels in love, and the guy she has fallen for takes her family seriously, you definitely have a recipe for a good relationship. That's the easy part. When you add careers and ambition to the mix, that really muddies the water and decisions have to be made. Mack has loved his older sister's best friend ever since high school and he knows that she is affected by him as well. However, he has a budding music career and the chance to make the big time makes him seriously consider his choices and how to create a win/win situation for all of them. I loved the romantic Mack who put the love of his life first, finding ways to win her love and to give her the desires of her heart. The fact that he also takes Clara's needs into consideration is a big plus for him. I also enjoyed Kate's character and her determination to succeed for the sake of her daughter and that she plays it safe in order to protect Clara from hurt. However, whose life wouldn't be complete without a bestie, and Lanie is a delightful character who works her own magic into the story. I received a copy of this book as a gift from the author and this is my honest and voluntary review.

    Sweet, Small Town Romance!

A truly relaxing, engaging, fun, sweet small town long time friends to lovers romance with a band of family and friends you can't help but fall in love with. Makes a great sunny afternoon lounging in the back yard listing to the birds sing reading adventure. Kate Reynolds is so spunky, sweet and strong, a single mom with so much on her plate. Mackenzie Winters or Mack is so fun, steady and sexy how is it possible to not adore him. They are the perfect answer to each others unspoken needs it is only natural they fight it. The charters in this story are so real and the setting described in such detail you are easily able to escape the real world for a few hours and relax in this small town goodness. Looking forward to my next visit to this wonderful place.
