  • the players, shenanigans, mistruths and treachery

Niki Savva is a renowned journalist and political commentator, whom most Aussies will know, worked as senior adviser to Prime Minister John Howard and Treasurer Peter Costello. With good connections to Liberal Party insiders, Niki has written previously about the Abbott Government to critical acclaim. She now turns to yet another overthrow of a sitting PM (with 7 in 11years). This is a sad indictment of the Australian political landscape of the previous decade. Plots and Prayers details the rise of the ad-man Scott Morrison, with comprehensive chapters covering the players, shenanigans, mistruths and treachery of how it happened. It is a stark reminder that politics requires you to sell your character and that self-interest will always prevail. An enjoyable read with masterful analysis from the self-described ‘conservative leftie’, with a four-star rating.
