  • Rainbow Boys

I’ve been wanting to read this series for some time now and now that I’ve started I don’t think that I’ll be able to stop until I’ve finished all three. I started Rainbow Boys a couple of days ago and it wasn’t till the second look at the layout that I realized how the names at the top of each section tied the three narratives together. Once that clicked in my mind I couldn’t stop. I was up till after 3 a.m. reading last night as one narrative blended into the next. The three boys, Nelson Glassman, Kyle Meeks, and Jason Carrillo are entering their senior year of high school and truly discovering who they are. Nelson has been out since forever and has been dealing with homophobia from the time he entered school. Kyle knows he is gay but does not want anyone else to know. His friendship with Nelson, though has marked him as gay to much of the school. Kyle has lusted after Jason since the beginning of high school but, Jason, the consummate jock has a girlfriend, but is also confused about his feelings about Kyle. All three of the boys have issues at home to deal with as well. A chance meeting at the youth centre support group for LGBT teens starts a series of events that draws the three boys together in love and friendship.

    Thanks for your feedback!
