  • A good read.

An excellent book detailing the history of the creation of the state of Israel & the life of a fascinating Israeli woman. Interesting details related to midwifery & battlefield nursing. Provides an introduction to the continuing conflict in the Middle East. Would be of interest to anyone trying to understand current affairs in the Middle East & of particular interest to anyone in the medical field. The prose tends to be choppy & paragraphs & chapters do not always segue smoothly. Overall, a very good read.

  • Raquela by Ruth Gruber

Thank you for writing so clearly about this very complex period in history. It felt as though I was looking at events from a front row seat, and the book gives a very clear understanding of how other nations behaved in relation to the new state. Growing up in England...I had no idea how anti Semitic the then Labour Party was. What a wonderful, tragic and welllived life. Well written and well paced. Fiction couldn’t make up a more interesting story
