I feel like I just read the world's longest run-on sentence. Without a conclusion.

  • Very disappointing

I really could not relate or empathise with any of the characters. the book did not flow well and certainly did not hold my attention while trying to read it.

  • Brilliant writing

A wonderful evocative portrait of a hill village and its inhabitants as they go about their daily lives in the shadow of a tragic event. The interplay between the people and their animals and the wildlife, and the passing seasons is just beautifully written.

  • Fantastic portrait of a community

Brilliant, beautiful, gutting portrayal of a community. I was completely absorbed from opening sentence to last, and I didn't want it to end.

  • Infuriating

Written in distinctive, stylised prose, the story describes the cyles
