Great premise but a bit all over the place

I really liked Peter Grant as a character and the magic in this was super awesome. I had problems with the pacing and the multiple storylines but it was a pretty interesting story.

    Amazing

A brilliant, funny and unique take on British policing by an urban fantasy star. Ben Aaranovitch has a unique and gripping style; he brings London to life in a way that most authors could only dream of.

    Just The Perfect Blend

In the life of an astoundingly busy and stressed student, this book, Rivers of London, was the start of a low-maintanence, fullfilling and trustworthy relationship. I am saying this with full faith since at the moment I’m already reading the third book in the series- Whispers Underground. This series brings together a realistic heart-to-heart tone (the British version of heart-to-heart ofcourse) , the thrill of the chase (the game is always on) and the wonders of magical folk living in modern world London. If for nothing, one should read these books just for the cynical commentary on modern architecture.

Delightful blend of crime, fantasy, and wit.

This novel is an entertaining start to a unique series. The characters are interesting and the plots twist seamlessly within a landscape that is at once magical and mundane, otherworldly yet familiar.

    The perfect light-hearted urban fantasy...

... With a heroic policeman who happens to be a wizard. I never get tired of Peter Grant's witty narration in these books, and the world of the Folly is an engaging and rich one.
