  • Flooding Comes to Town

This is #9 in the installment of the Josie Quinn series and somehow author Lisa Regan finds new and interesting storylines. This time there are floodwaters threatening Denton and this makes a great backdrop for several crime scenes. There are a few dramatic water rescues and the flooding also unearths a long-buried body. Josie’s murder investigation hits close to home. This book features quite a few flashback scenes to Josie’s high school days and her romance with then- boyfriend Ray. There’s a modern-day mystery swirling around Ray and we finally get enough clues to piece it together. I was hoping for more romance with Noah, but hopefully that comes in a future book. Josie’s grandma makes an appearance as well in this book, she’s one of my favorite characters! There’s also a subplot concerning the expensive homes in one part of town and the residents possibly stealing town resources to protect their property. The two plots come together in a way I was not predicting! This one had some good twists and I’m eagerly awaiting the next installment in this series.

  • Just okay

I was excited to get Save Her Soul by Lisa Regan because I enjoy her books. They are usually full of mystery and intrigue with good, solid characters. Unfortunately, for me, this book fell flat. The storyline felt like there was too much extra "story" and only had a so-so plot. This book won't stop me from reading other Lisa Regan books because she writes well and can weave a good story and mystery. #SaveHerSoul #NetGalley

  • Dont miss this series

No question about it ; a well deserved 5 star read ! I love the Josie Quinn series and Book 9 is just as good if not better than 1 - 8. I am tired after all the action that Josie , Gretchen, Noah and her team go through to catch who killed Beverly over 16 years ago. The town all thought she and her mum had just moved on one day. Lisa Regan always throws a few curve balls at the reader , twists and turn and there is always a new aspect of Josie's life that we learn right along with her. I am in line already for Book 10; I won't get tired of this series. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an outstanding read.

  • Another Amazing One!

Another great entry in the Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan. There has been massive flooding in Josie's town of Denton, and when a house is ripped from it's foundation, a body is released into the water. Putting the rescue team she's been riding with at risk, Josie knows she can't let this potential victim disappear and she jumps in to pull it to safety, while almost being swept away in the process. But as usual, her gut instinct is right and the body is found to be that of an old high school classmate and personal bully of Josie's, Beverly Urban. Not only that, but she is wearing the jacket of Josie's ex-husband and childhood sweetheart, Ray. Josie is determined to treat her like any other victim and put her personal feelings aside, but it becomes a constant struggle throughout the case. She and her team discover that both Beverly and her mother, Vera, haven't been seen in 15 years. Is Beverly's mother guilty or will another victim be discovered? And how do a group of upper class wives that used to socialize with Vera at her salon figure into this? The well to do families have been lambasted for diverting the town's emergency supplies, but are they guilty of something even more sinister? Poor Josie never seems to get a break, as in the midst of this investigation her grandmother, Lisette, divulges a life changing blow that threatens to break down all of Josie's defenses. It will take all of her strength to push through the emotional havoc and find justice for Beverly. Fellow readers know that if anyone can overcome obstacles like these, it is Josie. Flooding may be destroying the town, but it's not the only danger threatening their community. But which will cause more the greater destruction?

  • A brilliant read

I have to be completely honest right off the bat and admit that this is the first book in the Josie Quinn series I have read! I can hear the fans screaming at me “seriously!” and “how could you not have read any before?” And I really don’t have a better answer other than Lisa had only come through on my radar since stating my book blog in 2019. So why jump on board now you may ask? The answer, I have read so many great things about these books and what a fantastic author Lisa is, that I decided to just bite the bullet and go for it. You would think that someone that is starting book 9 in such an established series would have absolutely no hope in following along right? Wrong! I had no trouble at all. Phew! Lisa has put together a thrilling plot that sees the body of a young girl float to the surface from under a house where the riverbank has broken due to heavy rains. When reading this, I couldn’t help but refer it to my all time favourite show, Twin Peaks and its hook “She’s Dead, Wrapped in Plastic” although in this case “Wrapped in a Tarp! The plot thickens when the girl is pulled from the water and is wearing a jacket like the one Josie’s dead husband, Ray, owned… What I have taken from this story is that Lisa puts Josie through the wringer a lot and really puts her resolve to the test! She is such a formidable character and I completely resonated her. She is one bad you know what and I look forward to going back to the previous books when I can and get to know her more. It wasn’t hard for me to see that she is a strong protagonist and is the perfect lead in the series. I loved Lisa’s writing and how she was able to hook me in to the story instantly. There was no time to settle in and get comfortable as it moved at high speed, barely slowing down until the final page. I enjoyed the twists and turns and the curve balls thrown in that kept me off the track until Lisa was good and ready to reveal all, which is done perfectly. Save Her Soul is a fast paced gripping crime thriller, that will have you on the edge of your seat furiously flicking through the pages. For a series to be at its 9th book means that Lisa is still on a winner here and although I have a bit to catch up on, she most certainly has a new fan in me. It was an absolute pleasure to read and review Save Her Soul which I highly recommend. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Save Her Soul which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
