  • A great read

It’s been awhile since I last read a book from Karen that when the opportunity presented itself to be part of the blog tour for Say No More, I jumped at the chance. Cults are a subject that I find so fascinating, so I was immediately drawn to it. Say No More is the 2nd instalment in the Sacramento series and while it can be read as a stand-alone, I don’t recommend starting with this one. The story is a follow on from the 1st in the series, Say You’re Sorry, which is where Karen first introduces the reader to the Eden Cult and briefly, Mercy Callaghan. I had no troubling in following along, but would have gotten more from the story having started with book one. It is a story that is just best going in with the blurb so I don’t need to rehash anything here, but I will say that it does deal with some hard hitting topics in the story which includes sexual assault, physical and emotional abuse as well as child abuse, which may be triggers for some readers. Karen doesn’t gloss over these topics, but does handle them with sensitivity. It didn’t take me long to reacquaint myself with the breathtaking brilliance of Karen’s work and how through her vivid prose made me feel like I was part of the story experiencing it all and watching from the sidelines. What I mainly took out of this story, is how much I have missed Karen’s books and I now have some major catching up to do with the ones I have missed! Say No More is a heart pounding, edge of your seat gripping read that at times takes on a slower pace, but there is enough action, tension and suspense to hold your attention and keep you engaged. There are also twists and turns aplenty as well as some romance thrown in, which balances out the more macabre parts of the story quite nicely. All up this is a very satisfying read and I look forward to more in the series.

  • Unputdownable

SAY NO MORE is the second book in Karen Rose's Sacramento Series, and picks up around six weeks after SAY YOU'RE SORRY left off. With the investigation into Eden, the cult in which FBI Agent Gideon Reynolds and his sister Mercy Callahan escaped still very much ongoing. But this time Mercy and Gideon's best friend, Sac PD Detective Rafe Solokov take centre stage. As Mercy returns to Sacramento to finally face her feelings for Rafe and the truth of what happened to her, and Gideon and help the investigation to find those responsible. Yet, when certain elders learn Mercy is alive after news reaches them that she survived a serial killer the investigation shifts as Mercy and those closest to her become the target of a killer willing to do anything to find Mercy and take her back to Eden-dead or alive. And what followed was a story that was packed full of twists, tension, suspense and high drama; and I was honestly gripped throughout. So much so, I stayed up most of the night reading it. But boy was it worth it! And I can't wait to find out what happens next. Would highly recommend. Especially if you're a fan of this genre, as I personally don't think anyone does it better.

  • Spannend

Wat leuk is bij haar dat ze een paar boeken schrijft met hoofdrolspelers die ook in andere boeken voorkomen, let op de plaatsnamen, dan zie je welke er bij elkaar horen
