  • Awesome

Awesome story! Loved these characters and can't wait to read more in the Jupiter Point series! The writing and pace of the story are fantastic and the chemistry between Sean and Evie jumps from the pages. Couldn't put this one down. Town bad boy Sean Marcus returns to Jupiter Point all grown up and ready to prove he's not the screw up the town once thought he was. His mission is to get a Hotshot wildfire crew up and running and nothing can get in his way. When Evie McGraw shows up as beautiful and sexy as ever he can't help but worry that she'll become a distraction. Staying away isn't an option though. These two have history. A history that needs to be set straight and healed over. And maybe, just maybe, move forward. Don't miss the start of a great new series. I highly recommend it.

  • The queen of firefighters is back!

After a frightening experience fighting wildfires in the Big Canyon wilderness, Sean Marcus vowed to go back home to Jupiter Point, California. He wants to show the townspeople that the former bad boy is truly reformed, and he will be the superintendent of the Jupiter Point HotShots, the wildfire crew. Thirteen years before, Sean fled the town in utter disgrace, he wants to set things straight. As the new leader, he is invited to the town council meeting to greet the people. Then he sees her, a gorgeous woman, whom he didn’t recognise at first. Last time he saw her was thirteen years ago, when she was fourteen, and it landed him in jail. Evie, who works in the Sky View Gallery, is president of the business coalition and also present at the town council meeting, she never expected Sean to be there; but Evie had never forgotten him. And when their eyes meet, the intense sexual chemistry they both experience stuns them both… Everyone knows that Jennifer Bernard knows her firefighting; I must admit I’m terrified of fires, and her descriptions are so realistic, I was nearly living my worst nightmare – and that’s one heck of a compliment! Ms. Bernard’s paints her fictional town in vivid colours, and I got the feeling I knew the people as well as the characters did. Sean has an extraordinarily interesting backstory; I wanted to know every little detail of his past. SET THE NIGHT ON FIRE is a bit difficult to review without giving away any spoilers, so suffice it to say that the villain is one smarmy, despicable character, who is also fabulously fascinating and will make your skin crawl. Evie has secrets that only Sean knows, and while I will not judge how she deemed to deal with her issue in the past – everyone copes differently – I was rather perplexed at how she decided to handle her personal issue in the present in her dealings with Sean, and I also had problems with how she dealt with the public side of her predicament. This will seem very obscure if you have not read the book, but when you do, you will know what I’m talking about, and you might or might not agree. While I really liked Sean, I never warmed up to Evie, I just couldn’t understand the decisions she made, how she saw things. Ms. Bernard’s writing is a fluid and eloquent as always and I’m thrilled that my favourite character will star in this series’ next instalment, and no, I’m not telling! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

  • The Smoke Jumpers Have Arrived!

An awesome start to a new series by Jennifer Bernard. Can you say, smoke-in hot smoke jumpers have arrived in Jupiter Point. The only problem is that Sean left years ago on not so good feelings. Evie has harbored a secret for many years, but with Sean returning, she is able to finally put the past behind her and confront her fears. Sean does not do love and Evie does not trust. They can't put their mutual sizzling chemistry on the back fire though, believe me things are hot between the two!! Jennifer has upped her sizzling romance to hot! Great characters that show so much emotion for each other and not afraid to stand up for them. I'm already in love with this small town of Jupiter Point, can't wait to read more of the smoke jumpers.

  • Set the Night on Fire

A new author for me and I must say a worthwhile read. It's a story with a good plot, a good romance and a bit of evil thrown in to give spice. A good series to read I think.

  • Set The Night On Fire

Set The Night On Fire by Jennifer Bernard, is the first book in her Jupiter Point series and Ms. Bernard hits this story out of the park. Jupiter Point is a city in northern California where you can see the stars better than anywhere else. The people of Jupiter Point say “Remember to look up at the stars.” The hero is Sean Marcus, former town bad boy who left Jupiter Point thirteen years prior after spending a night in jail. He returns as the leader of the Jupiter Point Hotshots wildfire crew. He is out to prove that he is no longer that troubled boy and can now be trusted. The heroine is Evie McGraw, the town sweetheart who has a secret. She has never talked about that night thirteen years, the night that changed her life. Sean is the only other person who knows what really happened that night. The minute Sean sets eyes on Evie his plan to stay out of trouble goes up in smoke. Evie is all grown up and beautiful. Sean is the only person Evie can talk to about that night. She believes he is the one to help her turn her life around. Evie gave up everything to protect her parents but now she has to make a decision. Should she keep silent about what happened or put her heart on the line and let Sean help her heal from the past? This was a fun and entertaining story with loveable characters that you want to support and cheer on hoping for that happy ending. The characters were well written, authentic and complex. The story line was riveting and kept my attention to the very end. I genuinely enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. I highly recommend this book, and all others previously written by Jennifer Bernard to all readers and I cannot wait for the next story in this series.
