  • Brilliant and exciting, those are the easiest word

Brilliant and exciting, those are the easiest words to use to describe this book. As we join this story we find the main character, Haldin Raish, a rising star of the Legion and son of the honourable Hero of the Legion Captain Martin Raish; with his best friend Johnny Wingard and they are right in the action in the very first paragraph of the book. They are well trained legionnaires and respond with pin point accuracy at the targets before them, and when at one point Johnny gets shot and dies, its no big deal...after all, its only a simulator, none of this is real. Later after leaving his buddy at the legion barracks, Haldin goes home to his mother and father, and they gather round the tv to watch the execution of a terrorist. They watch it out of duty but they dislike executions. The man who is about to be executed is, Andre Kovaks. He believes there is corruption in the legion, perhaps even as high as the Sanctum, the highest authority in the land, and he tried to get information supposedly to back his insane claim. The Sanctum had branded him a terrorist and had sentenced him to die for his heresy. They watch him die, but Haldin feels restless about it. He is unsure why the man, who seemed no more than mentally sick, had to be executed. To Haldin, it seemed an excessive response to his law breaking. Struggling to be a strong perfect soldier like his father, Haldin frequently finds himself coming up short in this situation. He is not like his father, who is rigid and formal, even at home. Haldin finds his relationship with his father difficult and becomes uneasy about a rumour reported to him by his best buddy Johnny, that is seems to indicate that his father is having an affair with his secretary. Haldin is shocked by this and speaks to his mother who tells him all is well and that his father has been distracted and uneasy of late due to some of the orders that he has been receiving of late. The truth reason his father has been whispering in dark corners with his secretary, is far more shocking that we could have guessed. When we finally read it the shock value is intense and was far from what I was expecting. A man at the top of the Legion turns out to be someone that Haldin and his family are seriously affected by. That is all I will say on the matter, you will definitely have to read it for yourself to find out the shocking truth....it will blow your mind! This story is very well written and the action scenes were wildly explosive and great fun to read. With a shock value that will surprise you. It grabs you from the first time blood is spilled and takes you on a whirlwind ride that will make you completely fall for it. This is a story which will remain with me for a long long time. It rooted me to the spot and had me gasping with surprise as I read on. Page after page of exciting scenes that left me dying for more. The quality of the writing is second to none. I was enthralled by it all the way through.

Wow! Great book! Lately most of the svifi I have read were written by Woman and were romances. This was a great adventure. Thank you so much. Could not put it down during the long weekend in Australia. Looking forward to the sequel. Cheers
