    Much ado about nothing

A fine work telling us that we know very little about Shakespear-however you spell it. What we do know is that he was a great writer ànd suggestion he is not he is nonsense. Bryson is obviously a fan and he does great credit to Will.

    Too much information

Bill Bryson is a great raconteur. He is witty and humorous, makes many witty asides and is meticulous with his research. And it is the last of these which I found difficult to deal with. Facts? There were so many of them often presented in machine gun manner that I began to lose track towards the end. It was a distraction for me, however, no doubt hundreds, perhaps VB thousands of other readers will be glued to them. I like Bill's, work. Logo have been good enough to bombard me with details of his other works and I have readily bought some of them. I have no doubt I will enjoy them just as much as I have enjoyed his other works which I have read.

    Fantastic

A thorough and thoroughly entertaining examination of Shakespeare's life and times, by a modern literary genius.
