  • Superb fantasy

Part of my absolute favourite series. A must-read for lovers of all things nautical/epic fantasy. This trilogy can be read and enjoyed without prior knowledge of the series (but I would personally recommend starting with the Farseer trilogy if you haven't already done so). If you've already read Farseer, be prepared for a change in setting and writing style.

  • Society, piracy and fantasy

The bend of some unusual elements into the fantasy landscape add a new and intresting angle to the story. The book is well written with well drawn characters which blend new ideas on the origins of the society described and of the creatures of that world.

  • As exciting as the farseer books

I was feeling a bit at a loss when i finished the farseer books and so got stuck into other stories, still i missed Hobb. Safe to say i dared to try ship of magic, partly because i knew the fool was in it. But shiver me timbers i am hooked in and its every bit as good as Fitz story. Hobbs magic. Book 2 here i come.

  • More characters to fall in love with

I admit, it was hard to finish The Farseer trilogy and enter the world again without the characters I came to love! But Robin Hobb so successfully manages to hook the reader into a different part of the world, and I am very excited to read more! Well, well worth the read, I love the idea of ships with personalities... So good!
